Oh, babeeeee, I so want me some footie pajamas!
Now all I need is some adult Underoos, and my life will be sweet, indeed.
Edit, 7:43 pm:
Whoa. Not Underoos, but close. WebUndies.

Art as Controversy

Friday, September 23rd, 2005

The folks in Green Bay aren’t too happy with the message This piece conveys. Considering what a heavy hunting, We Love Guns kind of culture is in Wisconsin, it strikes me as vaguely hypocritical.
I am reminded of Chicago alderman storming the student art show at The Art Institute of Chicago–which, incidentally, is probably the [...]

Quiet

Thursday, September 22nd, 2005

Not so much to say right now, still quite upset over current events, and now Rita is bearing down upon Texas. I hope Christine and her family are far enough removed to be safe from Rita.

I’ve been reading up on anniversary reaction, recently intrigued by the tenet that it occurs, in part, as a result [...]

The Last of Summer

Wednesday, September 14th, 2005

I haven’t much to say right now. I’m so angry–livid, in fact–over current events that I can’t be bothered with the usual occupations beyond getting through each day. I have written letters to congressional reps, to senators, even to the president. I’ve sent money. I’ve sent goods.
I stood in my garden, the light mellow [...]

What?

Tuesday, September 13th, 2005

For some reason, I have NIN’s Closer stuck in my head. I suppose, however, that this is a better earworm than the amalgamated tune that played in my brainpan yesterday: Radiohead’s Creep with altered lyrics. Instead of hearing “You float like a feather/in a beautiful world,” I kept mixing it with a lyric from an [...]

Elephant Card

Monday, September 12th, 2005

I finished quite a few ATCs yesterday, ranging along the line from okay to pretty nice.
This was my favorite, although it’s not the best; it’s so cheery and childlike. Very outside my usual sort of work. I was surprised it came out of me. Maybe it’s practice for illustrating sock monkey books.

New Scientist Trauma of war hits troops years later - News
It’s a shame that an anxiety disorder that has been recognized to alter the physical state of a human being, in some cases, permanently, is only now beginning to be seen as a potential killer.
One of the more interesting aspects of PTSD is that those [...]

Beyond Speechless to Breathless.

“I don’t think anybody anticipated the breach of the levees. They did appreciate a serious storm but these levees got breached and as a result much of New Orleans is flooded and now we’re having to deal with it and will,” he said.”
Geo. W. Bush, quoted from the BBC story, here.
Oh, my god.
*I* knew it [...]

Moon’s a Ballon

Thursday, September 1st, 2005

I sat in the dark, on a bench, before a cliff. It dropped to the shore of the inland sea, and the moon shone full in a clear sky. Behind me, far in the distance, the sounds of the wedding celebration drifted to me, but I was no longer interested in dancing.
Instead, I contemplated the [...]
